January Double-Page Sketch Challenge from Stick It Down

Helllooooo! And welcome to another new year of FUN with Stick It Down! I have loved being on this team and participating in all the sketch challenges just boosts my creativity more and more.

Let’s take a look at the new sketch for this year:

This sketch give you the perfect opportunity to use up any branding strips or small sketches that might be cluttering your craft desk! I was also thrilled to use up many of my remaining embellishments from the Sugarplum Wishes collection! It always feels good to throw an empty sticker sheet away 😉

Isn’t this a fun layout?! It’s not often that I blend purples, pinks, and reds but the Sugarplum Wishes collection makes it so easy! I love the fun floral poinsettias and all the other tiny elements.

I hope this gives you motivation and inspiration to try it out yourself! Happy Scrapping!

December Double-Page Sketch from Stick It Down

I hope you’re feeling the Christmas spirit now that we’re officially into December! I have a Christmas-inspired double-page spread to share to continue the festive feel!

I looked at the sketch from Stick It Down and thought, “I should make that circle shape into an ornament!” So I did! And I think it turned out so cute! Do you ever create unique items out of shapes in a sketch? It’s a great place to spread your creative wings!

This paper collection is called “Sugarplum Wishes” by American Crafts and my favorite designer, Paige Evans, created it! Isn’t it fun?!

I hope its cheery feel inspires you to create something merry this month and to play along with our sketch at Stick It Down! Happy Holidays!

Sugar Plum Wishes Christmas Scrapbook Layouts!

We have snow on the ground here in Minnesota, so I guess scrapbooking some Christmas layouts are in order! I bought Paige Evans’ “Sugar Plum Wishes” line last fall, and I have been saving it for these Christmas layouts!

First up, I created this layout based off of Scrap with Stacy’s Tic Tac Toe board (I used ephemera, chipboard and flowers) and Rochelle Spears’ sketch challenge. You can click the links above to peek and join their challenges!

Here’s the layout I created! I like to scrapbook double-page layouts, so I took Rochelle’s sketch and used it for the left side of the double-page. Then I free-styled on the right side! I used a solid white background and then some of the fun patterned “Sugar Plum Wishes” paper to create a layout showcasing my grandparents 62nd anniversary! Since they got married in December of 1940–the Christmas paper works wonderfully!

Next up, I’m spotlighting a few layouts of my sweet little girl using “Sugar Plum Wishes.” We took a fun trip to Duluth, Minnesota and rode the Christmas Train and visited “Bentleyville” which is an incredible lights display along Lake Superior!

Finally, here’s my “Cuter Than A Christmas Cookie” layout! I loved the faces she was making in these photos, and since childhood is fleeting I want to remember them forever in my scrapbooks 🙂

Thanks for taking a peek at some of my Christmas layouts! Tell me in the comments which one you liked best! Are you team “Anniversary,” “Christmas Train,” or “Christmas Cookie?”

November Double-Page Sketch from Stick It Down

I have been impatiently waiting to reveal this layout to you all! You know how there’s some layouts that you just love more than others? Yep, this one is one of my favs! It just turned out so cute!

Let’s first take a peek at the sketch from Stick It Down this month:

And here’s what I created with it:

I have always enjoyed Simple Stories’ collections and this firefly paper from the Summer Lovin’ collection really caught my eye! I have MANY camping photos so this worked perfectly to create a fun “outdoor-themed” layout! I added some stitching and custom die cuts to add flair and I love the woodsy, rustic result!

One of our favorite places to camp is along the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota! It’s remote and wild — which is just how we like it! From our campsite in the picture, we could see Canada on the other side of the lake!

Are you a camper and outdoor aficionado like me? Let me know where your favorite place to camp is in the comments below! Happy camping & scrapping!

October Double Page Post from Stick It Down

Welcome to another month of fun! Here we are into October!

Over at Stick IT Down we have a double-page sketch featuring hexagons. I thought this was a fun design element to incorporate, so I used some fall photos of my daughter turning 2 (her birthday is in October) and the Simple Stories collection “Simple Vintage Country Harvest” to create this one.

I’m a big fan of the artist, Ben Rector, and he sings a song titled “You Color Up My World.” I thought that title was just perfect to describe my sweet daughter so I stole it 😉

Have you ever used a song title as a scrapbook page title before??? Comment below and let me know!

“This Is Awesome”

Each year, my family heads to our local dinner theater and enjoys a show together! In 2022, the show was “Footloose,” and it was 3 hours of toe-tapping fun! We loved it and can’t wait to see “White Christmas” in a few weeks at the same theater.

To scrapbook this quick layout, I went to Stick It Down’s page and used their monthly sketch. I love seeing their design teams’ inspiration. Then, I included the items from Stacy’s Tic Tac Toe challenge (2 photos, hearts, and ephemera). I love her challenges each month too! They stretch me to try new things 🙂

To complete this layout, I used up some of the last of my Simple Stories “Summer Lovin'” collection. This was such a fun one to play with, and I’m sad that my stash is now used up, BUT at the same time, I’m happy because that means I’m using my stash as I should!

Thanks for swinging by and taking a peek! I hope you get scrappy happy today!

Double-Page Layout of Roosevelt National Park

Hello Hello! I thought I would post this fun layout of Teddy Roosevelt National Park! I’m an avid national park visitor and scrapbooking our national park adventures makes me so happy!

If you’d like to learn more about Theodore Roosevelt National Park, click here! I’ve got all sorts of info for you! It’s a fantastic park to visit with kids! They can dig in the dirt and run on trails for days.

This layout took me quite a while to finish, but I’m thrilled with the final product. I found this older One Canoe Two paper from the “Twilight” collection and I thought the marble hill look would be perfect to fussy cut! I think it mimics the look of the rolling prairie hills of North Dakota so well.

Thanks for taking a peek! I hope this layout inspires you to get out and explore our national parks!

September Double-Page Sketch Challenge from Stick It Down

Are you drinking a pumpkin spice latte yet?? Typing that sentence makes me want to run through my local coffee shop’s drive-thru! Delicious!

Alright let’s start off fall with a new double-page sketch! I’ve been so excited to show you this one because — I created it! Whooo! This is the first time I’ve ever tried my hand at sketches, but it was a fun new challenge!

I remember learning how to paper weave as a kid in school and it’s a fun technique to incorporate into scrapbooking! Especially on outdoor layouts—which I always have MANY of!

Here’s what I created:

Ok enough of that–here’s what I created! Isn’t it cool?? I love how the paper weaving technique added to the layout’s rusticness. This was such a fun girl’s trip and it makes me smile just looking back at these photos too!

I hope this inspires you to try out some paper weaving!

August Double-Page Sketch Challenge from Stick It Down

The end of summer is approaching wayyy too rapidly but, with the change of months also comes a new double-page challenge! Hurray!

I always promise my husband that I will use every product I buy and try to live up to that promise! 😉 So with my photos I used some VERY old Basic Grey paper and embellishments. It felt good to use up some 10-year-old (at least!) paper and come out with a cute layout! This cut file is a sunflower wreath from Paige Evans.

I hope you try out this fun sketch and upload it to our August album on Facebook! Happy Scrapping!

July Scrapbook Challenge from Challenge YOUrself!

How did we get halfway through summer already? I feel like I blinked and it’s already July!

I’ve been spending so much time outside with my girls that I haven’t had as much time to scrapbook but I’m slowly making progress finishing up a page from my Isle Royale trip from 2023! I wanted to use up some of my older outdoorsy lines so I decided to use this “Chickory” paper from One Canoe Two. I fussy cut around the flowers and added some fun embellishments from “Live and Let Grow.”

Challenge YOUrself is also hosting a stitching challenge so thankfully this was a great page to incorporate some stitching on! I’ll include a close-up of my back-stitch.

I also participated in Rochelle Spears’ sketch challenge (I try to do it each month because her sketches are so creative!) And so here is my spin on her challenge!

I adore scrapbooking my outdoor adventures! If you’d like to hear more about my trip to Isle Royale (The Wild Isle) then click here! I’ve shared lots of tips if you’re planning a trip up there!

Thanks for swinging by my website! Happy Scrapping!
